Android rooting is the procedure which is followed by everyone. People always try to install the SuperSU from Chainfire. You have seen that if you are rooting your Android device with the help of SuperSU then you won’t be getting OTA updates on your device. This measure prevents SuperSU daemons from getting the permissions it needs to do the job at boot. In order to fix these issues chainfire created the systemless rooting method. There were many developers who started this trend and the developer topjohnwu also came up with an idea of systemless Xposed Framework.

Android is an Open Source operating system which means the source code is available for everyone to tweak and modify. So, there are a lot of eyes looking to modify, exploit and root Android ecosystem for achieving something bigger.
Google is making Android more secure every iteration making it difficult for the developers to gain root access on Android devices and alter system partitions. Systemless root is the latest thing in custom Android development which allows users to gain root access without altering system partition. So, you can enjoy OTA updates and other root-restricted apps even on rooted Android devices.
Magisk is the new face of Systemless interface on Android which is aimed to make custom mods go systemless. It’s the brainchild of the XDA developer topjohnwu and is the short name for “Magic Mask” which aims to overcome the difficulties with Systemless mods.  Once you install Magisk on your device, you can choose from many modules to go entirely systemless.

Here’s the entire feature list of Magisk:

          • Magic Mount: This feature will not only allow you to replace existing file and directories but also support adding new files and directories into the system. This means all existing mods should be possible to work systemless.
          • Multiple Entry Points: If “Magic Mount” itself is still not powerful enough to accomplish your goal, Magisk provides several entry points for developers to run scripts at different boot times, making developers do whatever they want at any time. It reliably blocks the boot process to continue before your scripts are done.
          • Magisk Manager: This app helps you manage your root status, and manage all your installed Magisk Mods (mod management is still WIP), just like Xposed Modules.
          • Remove verity / force encrypt (both are configurable through .magisk file, same as SuperSU), patches SE policy (to run scripts and support multiple root methods). This means developers won’t need to worry about boot image modifications in the future!
          • Important mods like Root, Xposed etc. can all depend on the Magisk interface.
          • magisk.img (the place to store all your systemless mods) will resize automatically to support large mods, and reclaim the space after removing contents.

Systemless root on Android devices allow SELinux to run securely under enforcing mode, and allow installation of OTA updates without any issues. This is because systemless root doesn’t modify the system files on the device.
With the Magisk systemless interface for Android devices, installing systemless root on Android devices has gotten easier than ever. And to top that, installing systemless root via Magisk also allows you to use Android Pay with root. To get started, you need to install Magisk systemless interface first on your Android device and then we’ll install the phh’s SuperUser systemless root for Magisk which works with Android Pay.

Magisk requires boot image modifications, so unlocked bootloader is required to install Magisk. It is recommended to restore your device to the stock system and boot before installing Magisk.
If you can’t do that, you must completely remove everything related to root (/system/xbin/su, /data/su.img, /sbin/su) and Xposed on your device. A custom recovery is needed to install Magisk on your Android device. Download the Magisk from below links and install it on your device using the below guide.

How to Install Magisk from TWRP Recovery

            Top 10 Xposed Modules

If you have rooted your smartphone to enhance its performance & customize. But don’t know where to start from, Xposed is the answer. Xposed allows you to make system level changes without having to mess with codes & custom roms. Xposed uses modules, small applications that plug directly into the Android operating system and give you unprecedented control over the look and feel of your phone. Therefore, any changes made can be removed easily by simply disabling the modules and rebooting.

Xposed Framework is available for all 4.1+ devices. However, not all of the existing modules work on Marshmallow. If you are on Android Marshmallow & Android Lollipop, you can refer How to Install Xposed in Lollipop & Marshmallow. We will look at 10 best Xposed modules of 2016 which packs tones of options.

            1. Gravity Box:

            Gravity Box

Gravity Box has always been among the biggest reasons to use Xposed. It’s an unbelievably comprehensive tool for modding and enhancing the Android user interface. Almost no part of the Android experience cannot be tweaked or improved with this utility. This module allows you to add extra functionality to your keys like Double pressing Volume keys to skip tracks. Some of the most famous features are CyanogenMod Pie Controls, Launcher tweaks, Hardware key actions, Power tweaks & Notification control (per-app notification LED/sounds/vibrations).

            Amplify

If you are one of those whose battery gets drained very quickly after updating to Lollipop/Marshmallow then Amplify might be the solution. It’s perhaps best seen as a companion to that other top battery-saving app, Greenify, which also has some Xposed functionality. If you want Maximum battery life, use Amplify + Greenify.

What Amplify actually does is, Amplify takes care of wakelocks. These are when an app prevents the phone from entering deep sleep. If you’ve ever gone to bed with a fully charged phone, and woken up to discover the battery has lost 40% overnight, it’s highly likely that wakelocks will be the culprit. Amplify helps to prevent that from happening.

            5. XPrivacy

            XPrivacy Xposed Module

XPrivacy is a permissions manager that enables you to control which functions and data on your device apps can actually access. It has long been one of the most popular Xposed modules. With the introduction of granular permissions controls, it looked like Xposed might become redundant for Android 6.0 users, but it still serves a purpose. In Marshmallow, all apps automatically get the Internet permission. This will normally be used for benign purposes, like gathering analytics data or delivering ads, but it could be a potential security issue too.

With XPrivacy, you can ensure that only those apps you want going online are allowed to do so.

            Bootmanager

A lot of apps take liberties with your system resources, setting themselves to load whenever you boot your device. It can lengthen the startup time and waste power until Android 6.0 decides to close them down itself. You can nix that with BootManager. Just choose the apps you don’t want automatically launching and then reboot your phone. It’s like a more intelligent version of a task killer, and it can keep your less-used apps quiet until you actually need them. P.S: Navigation battery module name is Battery Home Icon
