  • Install the application and you might get an Unknown Sources Warning. Click on Settings.
  • Now, search for the Unknown Sources and enable it.
  • Press back button and try installing the application again on your device.
  • Open the application and if you have installed the Xposed on your device then you need to grant the root permissions for Gravity Box.
  • Simply, open the Xposed Framework and press the menu key.
  • Click on the Module to check out the modules.
  • Then enable the gravity box from it and then click on the framework.
  • Press the menu key and then you will see 2 options to reboot and soft reboot. Click on Reboot.
  • Then open the gravity box and you need to allow all the permissions of storage and a lot of things.
  • Now you can customize your device however you need it.

So i've decided to write an article and tell you how you can Install Xposed Framework on devices with Android Nougat 7.0 and above versions.

We have seen most of the times we need custom ROM for doing all the customization.     What is Xposed Framework?

    Install Xposed Framework on Android Nougat

    He was working for Nougat, but before him, the developer ErnyTech came up with a Xposed framework which helps the users to enjoy the Xposed in Nougat as well. If you will check now, then this Xposed framework becomes unofficial, because Rovo89 does not publish it.
    If you are going to install this framework on your device, then you will see that none of the modules will be working just because Android Nougat needs API Level 24 and 25 and most of the modules are available for API level 23 which is working fine on Marshmallow device.

    There are different kind of zip files which you can install it on your device. There are files for the arm, arm64, and x86 architecture. If you want to install Xposed framework systemless-ly, then you can flash the framework file on your device.

    Xposed Framework Fails SafetyNet

    If you install Xposed framework on your nougat device, then you will find the issue which won’t pass the SafetyNet. There are uninstaller available for the Xposed, if you don’t like it and would like to wait for the modules update then you can uninstall it and enjoy passing SafetyNet.
    We don’t know whether the modules will get updates for API Level 24 and 25 or not because it is unofficial, so you can wait for some days and let the official update arrive for your device and enjoy using xposed on your phone.

    Xposed Installer

    Xposed installer is the Android application which allows you to run the modules and also whenever you want to install any module it asks you whether you want to customize your Android device module.
    If you try installing the module now on your device, it won’t work because the support for the module is not available, so you need to wait for some days to get the support or wait for the official release of the Xposed framework.

    Requirements:

    • Android 7.0+ (Android SDK 24 & above)
    • Rooted Android device.
    • TWRP Recovery
    Note: You have to keep these things in mind that every android version has a unique API level as shown below
    • Android 7.0 is API Level 24
    • Android 7.1+ is API Level 25

    How to Install Xposed Framework on Android Nougat

    STEP 1: CHECK YOUR DEVICE ARCHITECTURE
    • Download the Hardware Info application from Play Store
    • Open the Hardware info application

    Click on Processor, and you will find the architecture for your device.


    Remember this architecture:
    • ARM: ARMv7 or armeabi
    • ARM64: AArch64 or arm64
    • x86: x86 or x86abi
    You need to note down your phone architecture. Now gotta move on to the next step which is to download the required files.

    STEP 2: DOWNLOAD XPOSED FRAMEWORK
    • Download the framework files for your phone architecture by clicking on the link given below.
      • Xposed Framework for API Level 25: Download
      • Xposed Framework for API level 24: Download
    • Now download the files and place all the files in your internal memory.
    • Turn off your phone and reboot your phone into recovery mode.
    STEP 3: FLASH THE XPOSED FRAMEWORK VIA RECOVERY
    • Boot your phone into recovery mode by pressing the Volume Down + Power key, or else you can also boot into bootloader mode and then reboot your phone into recovery mode.
    • Click on the Install Button & let the process to begin.
    • Now, navigate the xposed framework files on your device.
    • Click on it and move the slider to the right.
    • Your file will be installed on your phone and simply reboot your phone.

    Please Note: The first boot might take a while. Please wait few moments patiently because the system has to be start now with a different framework modules.

    STEP 4: INSTALL XPOSED INSTALLER APK ON YOUR DEVICE
    • Download the Xposed Installer Apk on your device: Download
    • Install the application, and you might find Unknown Sources Warning. Just click on Settings
    • Now, scroll down and toggle on the Unknown sources.
    • Hit the back button and try installing the application again on your device.
    • Now, open the application, and you will find the green tag showing the Xposed framework is correctly installed on your device.

    How to Uninstall Xposed Framework from Android

    • Download the necessary files for your device for your device from here:
    Remember: These Uninstallers will also work in 7.0 and 7.1+ (API Level 24 and 25)
    • Xposed Framework Uninstaller for arm: Download
    • Xposed Framework Uninstaller for arm64: Download
    • Xposed Framework Uninstaller for x86: Download
    • Move the file to your internal storage.
    • Turn off your device and boot it into recovery mode by pressing Volume Down + Power key.
    • Click on the Install button and let the process to begin.
    • Now, navigate to the file location and select the file then click on it.
    • Simply, move the slider, and the Xposed framework will be uninstalled from your device.
    • That’s it! You have successfully uninstalled the Xposed framework from your device.
    • You can uninstall the Xposed Installer application.

          Google is making Android more secure every iteration making it difficult for the developers to gain root access on Android devices and alter system partitions. Systemless root is the latest thing in custom Android development which allows users to gain root access without altering system partition. So, you can enjoy OTA updates and other root-restricted apps even on rooted Android devices.
          Magisk is the new face of Systemless interface on Android which is aimed to make custom mods go systemless. It’s the brainchild of the XDA developer topjohnwu and is the short name for “Magic Mask” which aims to overcome the difficulties with Systemless mods.  Once you install Magisk on your device, you can choose from many modules to go entirely systemless.

          Here’s the entire feature list of Magisk:

          • Magic Mount: This feature will not only allow you to replace existing file and directories but also support adding new files and directories into the system. This means all existing mods should be possible to work systemless.
          • Multiple Entry Points: If “Magic Mount” itself is still not powerful enough to accomplish your goal, Magisk provides several entry points for developers to run scripts at different boot times, making developers do whatever they want at any time. It reliably blocks the boot process to continue before your scripts are done.
          • Magisk Manager: This app helps you manage your root status, and manage all your installed Magisk Mods (mod management is still WIP), just like Xposed Modules.
          • Remove verity / force encrypt (both are configurable through .magisk file, same as SuperSU), patches SE policy (to run scripts and support multiple root methods). This means developers won’t need to worry about boot image modifications in the future!
          • Important mods like Root, Xposed etc. can all depend on the Magisk interface.
          • magisk.img (the place to store all your systemless mods) will resize automatically to support large mods, and reclaim the space after removing contents.

          Systemless root on Android devices allow SELinux to run securely under enforcing mode, and allow installation of OTA updates without any issues. This is because systemless root doesn’t modify the system files on the device.
          With the Magisk systemless interface for Android devices, installing systemless root on Android devices has gotten easier than ever. And to top that, installing systemless root via Magisk also allows you to use Android Pay with root. To get started, you need to install Magisk systemless interface first on your Android device and then we’ll install the phh’s SuperUser systemless root for Magisk which works with Android Pay.

          Magisk requires boot image modifications, so unlocked bootloader is required to install Magisk. It is recommended to restore your device to the stock system and boot before installing Magisk.
          If you can’t do that, you must completely remove everything related to root (/system/xbin/su, /data/su.img, /sbin/su) and Xposed on your device. A custom recovery is needed to install Magisk on your Android device. Download the Magisk from below links and install it on your device using the below guide.

          How to Install Magisk from TWRP Recovery

          1. Download and transfer the Magisk file from the above link and transfer it to your device’s storage.
          2. Boot your device into TWRP recovery. If you’re not sure about the process, just google how to boot into your device’s recovery mode.
          3. As you’re in the TWRP recovery, make a complete nandroid backup of your device. You can follow our definitive guide for nandroid backup from here.
          4. Tap on Install button and select the Magisk file. Swipe to confirm the flash.
          5. Once Magisk is flashed, reboot the device from the Reboot menu in TWRP.

            How to Uninstall Magisk on your Device

            1. Download the Magisk uninstaller from the downloads section and flash it from TWRP. This will remove Magisk from your device.
            2. If your custom recovery cannot access data, the uninstaller will still work but you need to remove few modules manually.
            3. To completely remove Magisk, you need to restore stock boot image and manually remove /data/magisk.img, /cache/magisk, /data/busybox from your device.

            Now, if you want to install System-Less Xposed on your Android device then you need to make sure that you are running Stock Android device and a stock kernel which is important before flashing the System-Less Xposed on your device.
            Now, why this is called as System-less Xposed just because you can turn on and turn off the feature of the Xposed framework in just one go and you don’t need to worry about the other applications. You can work with all your work in just one go.
            For now, the System-Less Xposed work in Android 6.0 and higher and if you don’t need to work too much to install this framework in your device.
            Make sure this version of Xposed is just for the Android version 6.0 and 6.0.1 and that’s it. The Xposed framework is still not available for Android 7.0 or 7.1.1 still so it won’t work on your device.

            Prerequisite:


            • Rooted Android device with Super SU installed and it should be above 2.76. If it is updated with the help of play store then it won’t work fine. You need to flash latest Super SU in your device to work properly.
            • TWRP Recovery installed on your device: Download Official TWRP Application
            • There should be no Xposed framework installed in your device if there is any Xposed installer installed in your device then make sure that you uninstall it using this uninstaller.zip file
            • You only stock kernel is needed none other than that because it will be needed to run Android Pay and other application.
            • If you are finding it difficult to uninstall the old Xposed framework then please make sure that you will be needed to install the Stock ROM on your device.
            • If you are using Custom ROM on your device then come back to Stock ROM.
            • You need Android M 6.0 or 6.0.1 only not other than that so make sure that you have Android M you can check in Settings > About Phone > Android Version.

            How to Install System-Less Xposed in Android


            • Firstly make sure that you have Tick the unknown Sources in the settings. You need to check that before side load of any external application. Go to Settings > Security > Check Unknown Sources.

            • Now, install the Xposed Material Design Installer in your device.
            • Now, make sure that you make a folder and transfer all the files to any location and then reboot your device into recovery.
            • Now, click on the install button and then search for the folder where you have saved the file on your phone.

            • Click on Xposed Framework zip and then click on it and swipe then the file will be installed on your device.
            • Now, after installing just reboot your phone and then you are almost done.
