How to Port Miui 9 on Mediatek?

Miui 9 has been ported to many android devices including Mediatek,Qualcomm & Spreadtrum platforms. These rom has been ported by Developers. But with this guide you too can port Miui 9 for your mediatek device and become a developer. To port miui 9 on your device follow the below given steps properly.

Unpack your stock rom and port rom boot.img & copy these from stock boot.img to port boot.img

Important Instructions

  • Modify all files with MT6797
  • Compare all lines between mt6735 and mt6797 files
  • Rename all lines from mt6797 files to mt6735 (Example: mount all/fstab.mt6797 >> mount all/fstab.mt6735)
  • Rename all mt6797 files to mt6735 (Example: init.mt6797.rc >> init.mt6735.rc)
  • Repack boot.img
Please note that you must have to follow the guide perfectly in order to port Miui 9 on your Mediatek device or else you may encounter several issues including Bootloop. If you may encounter bugs of any issue that you can handle then you can comment below so that i can help you fixing them out.

  • Install the application and you might get an Unknown Sources Warning. Click on Settings.
  • Now, search for the Unknown Sources and enable it.
  • Press back button and try installing the application again on your device.
  • Open the application and if you have installed the Xposed on your device then you need to grant the root permissions for Gravity Box.
  • Simply, open the Xposed Framework and press the menu key.
  • Click on the Module to check out the modules.
  • Then enable the gravity box from it and then click on the framework.
  • Press the menu key and then you will see 2 options to reboot and soft reboot. Click on Reboot.
  • Then open the gravity box and you need to allow all the permissions of storage and a lot of things.
  • Now you can customize your device however you need it.

    To Build a ROM we need to download the source of the ROM from Github.All the ROM sources can be found in Github.The source size varies from 20GB to 30GB.You will need to have a fast internet with unlimited plan to sync a ROM.

    In this guide I am going to teach you how to sync/download a ROM source from Github.

    Step 1 : Create a directory where you want to sync the source of the ROM.Use the following command to create a directory. 
    mkdir lineage 
    Here I named my directory as lineage, you can give it any name you like.

    Step 2 : Next step is to initiate the repo in the directory where you want to sync the source of the ROM. Before initiating we need to enter into the directory which we made. To enter into it use the following command.
    cd lineage
    Then  we have to initate the repo in the directory. Initiate code can usually found in README of android / manifest repo of the particular ROM in github.
    For Example : Lineage initiate code can be found in Android repo.

    Step 3 : If you are syncing the source of the ROM for first time, it will ask you your email id and github username.Use the follow command to enter your email id and github username.
    git config --global user.email "yourid@mail.com"

    Step 4 : Final step is to start syncing the source of the ROM. To start the sync you will need to enter the following command.
    repo sync

    To build a ROM from source,the first basic requirement is build tools without which it is impossible build ROMs.So in this tutorial I am going to teach you how to install Build tools.


    Step 1 : Clone the scripts repo by Akhilnarang. Use the following code to clone the repo.
    git clone https://github.com/akhilnarang/scripts.git

     Step 2 : Go to the directory which we cloned in previous step.
    cd scripts/setup

     Step 3 : Executing the script according to the os you use.
    For example : You use ubuntu 16.04, then you will have to execute ubuntu1604linuxmint18.sh script.

    For Linux Mint 17x :
    bash linuxmint17x.sh

     For Ubuntu 14.04 :
    bash ubuntu1404.sh

    For Ubuntu 16.04 or Linux Mint 18 :
    bash ubuntu1604linuxmint18.sh


    All the tools will be installed after executing the script automatically.Just wait untill they get installed.

    STEP 1 - UNZIP THE DOWNLOADED ROM. MAKE SURE ITS MT6582 ROM.

    STEP 2 - TAKE BOOT.IMG FROM STOCK ROM AND UNPACK IT AND TAKE ITS KERNEL AND UNPACK THE DOWNLOADED ROM BOOT.IMG AND REPLACE THE KERNEL FROM STOCK IN IT AND REPACK IT.

    STEP 3 - TAKE FIRMWARE FOLDER FROM ETC/FIMWARE FROM STOCK ROM AND REPLACE IT IN DOWNLOADED ROM.

    STEP 4 - ZIP THE FILES AND FLASH.

    Offline Charging fix


    Hello Guys I know you are freaked up while charging phone offline as the screen dont sleep ,it always stays on !! So guys here is the fix for that :)


    Steps :
    • First Unpack boot.img
    • Open ramdisk
    • Then open Sbin folder and delete Healtd
    • Download this compiled healtd Click
    • Then place the compiled healtd in its location
    • Repack the boot.img
    • Flash and enjoy

    Xposed For Lollipop ROMs ( 5.1.1 ) 

    About Xposed :-

    Xposed is a framework for modules that can change the behavior of the system and apps without touching any APKs. That's great because it means that modules can work for different versions and even ROMs without any changes (as long as the original code was not changed too much). It's also easy to undo. As all changes are done in the memory, you just need to deactivate the module and reboot to get your original system back. There are many other advantages, but here is just one more: Multiple modules can do changes to the same part of the system or app. With modified APKs, you to decide for one. No way to combine them, unless the author builds multiple APKs with different combinations.  

    Installing Xposed In Lollipop ROMs:-

    1. Download the Xposed Framework and Xposed apk.
    2. After downloading it, install the apk file of xposed
    3. Then put the Xposed Installer zip file to your sd card root folder.
    4. Reboot your device in recovery.
    5. Flash Xposed_framework.zip using recovery
    6. Clean and wipe dalvik cache.
    7. Reboot and enjoy.

    Android N-ify

     This module allows you to use several features introduced in Android N on you Lollipop and Marshmallow device.
    Currently supported features are:

    How To Increase the RAM Size of Your Android Phone

     

    Required Things:-

    1. A rooted Device
    2. And Two Apks (Download links are below)

    How To Increase RAM:-

    1. Firstly root your device.
    2. Then download "Kernel Adiutor" & "DiskInfo"
    3. Open Kernel Adiutor. 
    4. Swipe it from left.
    5. In the Kernel Section you will see the Virtual Memory.
    6. click on Virtual Memory, and Click on "Apply on Boot".
    7. Then go down & increase the Z-RAM to full*.
    8. Come out from the Kernel Adiutor.
    9. And Reboot your device.

    How to Check The Increased RAM:-

    1. Download "DiskInfo"  (Pro version download link will be at last)
    2. Open DiskInfo.
    3. Goto last, Check the memory Section
    4. You will see the Swap sub section in that which shows the Virtual Memory.

    Sprout Porting Guide

    Step 1 : Extract latest cm of your device.


    Delete addon.h ,Apps,fonts,framework,media,priv-apps,build.prop 


    Step 2 : Paste the above mentioned folders from sprout to cm 


    Step 3 : Merge extra bins and libs from sprout 


    Step 4 : Paste extra permissions in cm (etc/permissions) 


    Step 5 : Copy libandroidserver.so , libandroidruntime.so , libandroidfw.so , 
    libmedia_jni.so and       replace in cm lib 


    Step 6 : Merge extra files in vendor folder from sprout 


    Step 7 : Merge app_process32 ,applypatch ,bootanimation ,dalvikvm32 ,drmserver 
    ,mdnsd,mediaserver ,serfaceflinger from sprout to cm (These are bins) 


    Step 8 : Take storage list ,vold ,sdcard ,boot.img of latest cm

    After much searching plus trial and error I finally have rooted my Huawei Honor Holly -U19 phone successfully. I installed many drivers prior to it but don't know for sure which one did the trick for me. But eventually I figured it out. Hence, without further delay here is the exact process of rooting this killer phone. 


    Make sure you have the original data cable with you, though I used data cable of Samsung Note 2 it worked, hence, any OEM data cable should do the trick to be on the safe side use Samsung or Huawei supplied data cable only. 

    Steps to follow in the following series: 

    1. Click on this link.
    Here I've uploaded all the software/drivers that you would be needing to root. Hence download all the files in it to your computer.

    2. After the download completes, install the apps and driver in the following series. [This is important]


    ADB Installer 1.4.2


    Handset_WinDriver_1.00.00.31

    DriverAutoInstaller_v1.1236.00


    Then,

    iRoot 1.7.9.10454

    3. Connect phone via USB

    4. Bring down the notification panel and click on the USB icon

    5. Enable USB Debugging and select storage as connect method. (Do not select MTP, Camera or CD Drive mode)

    6. After selecting storage mode "Do not tap" on "Mount the storage as USB" button which is at the bottom of the screen. Doing this will make your memory card unavailable and the root process will also fail.

    7. Open the iRoot app and let it detect your phone. Make sure you have an active internet connection, so that it can download the drivers and install it automatically. This causes you an additional download of about 30 MB. [Don't worry its all worth it] 

    8. After that the iRoot will install 3 Chinese apps on your phone. Do not do anything with it, let it complete on its own.

    9. If everything goes well you will see the green Root button. Click on it.

    10. Make sure the phone is fully charged and you have UPS backup on your computer. Any interruption after you click the Root button in iRoot can make your phone unusable. So take huge precautions during the process. (You've been warned now) 

    11. Wait for 2 mins now and don't do anything. The phone will restart after the process is completed. You can see the ongoing status on iRoot itself. 

    12. After successful completion you will see the below screen on iRoot app on your computer screen.

    14. Download SuperSU app from Play Store and install. Open SuperSU, the Chinese app will pop up so as to grant SuperSU root permissions or not, remember to tap the RIGHT button in the Chinese app which is a YES.

    15. Download Root Cleaner and uninstall all the Chinese apps from your phone, you do not need them anymore now. 

    16. Update your SuperSU binaries and reboot the phone.
